Donald Trump just wondered on a live national broadcast whether or not
COVID-19 could be treated^1 by injecting toxic disinfectant or ingesting
bleach. Consuming these toxic chemicals in any way is likely to be fatal,
but that didn’t stop Trump from suggesting these and other ludicrous
unproven remedies to a national audience. During a public health crisis,
listening to someone like Trump, who is neither a health care expert nor a
doctor of any kind, is dangerous.

The apple-in-law doesn’t fall far from the tree, and like Trump, Jared
Kushner has been irresponsible and incompetent during his stint as lead on
an independent and unmonitored White House coronavirus task force. From
stating that the media has been taking the novel coronavirus too seriously
to denying that New York needs more life-saving ventilators,^2 Kushner has
been wreaking havoc in the media almost as often as his father-in-law.

For the record, over 16,000 people^3 have died in New York state alone.

In addition to Kushner speaking about subjects in which he has no
expertise, his task force is also operating without any public oversight,
