Shakespeare performances this weekend
Sun 11 August Nottingham Castle
Shakespeare fans can enjoy The Comedy of Errors at Nottingham Castle this Sunday evening. The clock is ticking as Three Inch Fools theatre company rush to untangle one almighty mess in this farcical tale. With musical instruments in hand, the Fools present a joyous take on this Shakespearean rib-tickler.
There’s also the chance to watch free pop-up performances of Henry V by Nottingham Shakespeare Company this weekend. Catch them at Victoria Embankment on Saturday evening, or their matinee at Newcastle Circus (The Park) on Sunday afternoon.
Just announced: Wayne Wonder headlines Nottingham Carnival

International reggae star Wayne Wonder headlines Nottingham Carnival! The Grammy-nominated artist has been a consistent hitmaker of extraordinary songs since the late 80s, becoming globally renowned in 2003 with the single No Letting Go.
The Carnival site will feature three music zones with live bands, DJs and sound systems. Joining Wayne Wonder on the line-up will be V Rocket, Gambino Akuboy (as seen on Britain's Got Talent), Claire Angel, Big Ship Alliance, Escobar, Rastarella, Suga Lion, Dial Tone, and DJ Steel. There will also be trade stalls, world food stalls, a licensed bar, and fairground rides, as well as a kids zone with activities.
Tickets are £5 in advance (£7 on the door) and kids 12 and under go free.
Numerous troupes from Nottingham and beyond will be taking part in the colourful Carnival Parade, which starts at 2pm and is free to watch at any point along the route.
Volleyball at Nottingham Beach

The summer holidays are here and Nottingham Beach is the perfect day out for all the family. Chill out on the sandy beach, dip your toes in the paddling area, or relax in the beach bar.
On Wednesday evenings at 7pm you can watch local teams going head-to-head in the volleyball competition. Why not pop down to cheer them on and see who comes out on top!

Gloworm Festival is the ultimate family festival, set in the beautiful surroundings of Holme Pierrepont Country Park. The three-day event will welcome the iconic Mr Blobby, CBBC favourites Bodger and Badger, and CBeebies' Andy Day, Bing and Flop, and Maddie Moate.
The festival also features tribute performances, meet and greets, a fairground, dino zone, workshops, and loads of activities for little ones!
Nottingham city residents can get a 10% discount by entering their council tax number and postcode when booking tickets.
The Colin McIntyre Classic Thriller Season

This month-long season of murder mystery plays has been a regular fixture at the Theatre Royal since impresario Colin McIntyre produced and directed his first season here in 1988. The annual Classic Thriller Season is named in his memory.
Often comprising four plays in repertoire, a company of actors rehearse during the day, ready for the following week's run, whilst performing in a different play during the evening. We are proud to host one of the last bastions of classic British ‘rep’ still to survive, and thrive, in the country today!
Ashfield Show

Ashfield Show returns to Sutton Lawn, where you can browse the market village, grab a drink from one of the three garden bars, enjoy the funfair rides, and satisfy any cravings in the food court.Â
The Main Stage hosts acts across the weekend, including tributes to The Killers, Coldplay, Dolly Parton, and Taylor Swift, and a Mamma Mia sing-a-long experience. There's also a dog show, Wild West show, and outdoor cinema.
