Trump, Harris Agree to First Debate

ABC: Former President Donald Trump says he has agreed to an offer from ABC News to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on Sept. 10. Trump said so during a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago Club on Thursday. Harris also confirmed her participation in the debate (ABC). GOP: President Trump is ready to debate (X)!

U.S., Iran Exchange Threats if War Escalates

Wall Street Journal: The U.S. has warned Iran that its newly elected government and economy could suffer a devastating blow if it were to mount a major attack against Israel, a U.S. official said. Those messages have also put Tehran on notice “that there is a serious risk of consequences for Iran’s economy and the stability of its newly elected government if it goes down that path,” the official added. The Biden administration has been mounting an intensive campaign to discourage Iran, its proxies and Israel from undertaking military action that would escalate tensions in the region as Washington tries to salvage prospects of a cease-fire in Gaza (Wall Street Journal). Free Beacon: A leading member of Iran’s nuclear negotiating team promised on Wednesday to “wipe out” every American military base in the Middle East if the United States joins Israel in an attack on the Islamic Republic (Free Beacon).

Tim Walz Exaggerated His Military Record

Townhall: Democratic vice presidential candidate and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is in hot water over a series of false and exaggerated claims that he “carried weapons of war” overseas. During a segment on CNN Wednesday Walz was called out for his “absolutely false” statements, which he’s made a number of times (Townhall). Rep. Brian Mast: Tim Walz LIED about his rank. He LIED about serving in Afghanistan. And now, according to CNN, Walz LIED about carrying weapons of war in a war zone (X). Marine Corps veteran and editor-in-chief of The Daily Caller Geoff Ingersoll: Wow, this is wild. (Also OEF was Afghanistan, NOT Iraq.) Walz should be forced to confirm or deny whether he misled Bloomberg’s @JoshuaGreen, who is still reporting to this day that Walz did a tour in Iraq. And Green should come out and say whether he was misled. This is false then and it’s false now (X).

Iraq’s Parliament Looks to Lower Legal Marriage Age of Girls to Nine

Breitbart: The Iraqi Parliament began to debate amendments to the Personal Status Law on Sunday that would, critics say, effectively dissolve the country’s universal standards to protect women and girls on matters such as consent to marriage, alimony, and custody of children by allowing men to opt out, choosing traditional Shiite or Sunni Islamic mandates, instead. While child marriages, sex slavery, and other abuses are rampant in modern-day Iraq, they are not technically legal. Iraqi law currently requires both men and women to be 18 years old to enter marriage, allows a woman to inherit her husband’s assets in the event of his death, and allows for unconditional inter-religious marriage… Notably, the updated law would require Shiites to use a sharia code based on the Ja’afari school of Islamic law. The Ja’afari school provides that girls can enter a legal marriage at age nine and boys at age 15. It gives full custody of children of divorced couples to the fathers, unless the man chooses to give up custody to the mother, and includes a provision for an arrangement known as a “pleasure marriage,” which “is a temporary marriage that can last as little as an hour,” according to the Middle East outlet the Media Line. Human rights activists noted that the provision has the potential to be abused to facilitate prostitution and sex slavery, as a man can claim participating in those actions was merely a “pleasure marriage” (Breitbart). Visgrad 24: Iraq’s Parliament takes the first step to lower the legal age of marriage for girls from 15 to 9. The new personal status law being discussed is based on Sharia Law (Breitbart).

Harris Campaign Revises Governor Tim Walz’s Biography Amid Critique of Military Service

Fox News: The Harris campaign has altered its biography of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz on its campaign website, making a change to a reference to his military service amid ongoing scrutiny of the 2024 Democratic vice presidential nominee’s military credentials. Walz’s biography initially said he was a “retired Command Sergeant Major.” It has since been updated to say that he “served as a command sergeant major.” When Walz left the Guard, he had achieved the rank of command sergeant major, but he was reduced in rank months after retiring, leaving him as a master sergeant. National Guard officials have said that he retired before fulfilling requirements for the position (Fox News). Politico: In the original biography, the same sentence called Walz “the son of an Army veteran and a retired Command Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard himself,” website archives show. A Harris campaign spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment, nor did Walz’s gubernatorial office in Minnesota, the website for which still describes him as “Command Sergeant Major Walz.” Walz’s campaign website for governor also used this title (Politico).

Chicago Grants Rally Permit for Pro-Palestine Group, Remains Silent on Issuing Permit for Pro-Israel Rally

Free Beacon: The City of Chicago has yet to grant a pro-Israel group’s permit request for a rally near the Democratic National Convention later this month, despite having approved an anti-Israel group’s request to hold a similar rally during the same event (Free Beacon). Washington Examiner: In mid-June, the IAC had submitted an application to hold a demonstration within “sight and sound” of the convention, but the request was denied, with the rejection letter stating the rally “would be a direct interference with a previously planned permitted activity or public assembly and would create public safety issues.” Meanwhile, pro-Palestinian groups have gained permission for a “March on the DNC,” which will be routed near the convention and is expecting to draw more than 25,000 participants. The approval for the planned protest march was meant to settle a lawsuit against Chicago after officials were accused of violating First Amendment rights (Washington Examiner).

Kamala Harris Has Increased Inflation Due to Her Support of Bidenomics

Federalist: Kamala Harris doesn’t like to talk about inflation for good reason. As costs continue to rise well above the Federal Reserve’s 2 percent target in the final year of the Biden-Harris presidency, Americans are already headed to the polls this fall with the economic carnage of the incumbent administration fresh in mind. Monday’s stock market crash offered voters the reminder they didn’t need, with former President Donald Trump quick to label the election-year stress test “Kamala Crash.” Considering the vice president also cast the tie-breaking vote on legislation to drive rising prices, Trump might also call sustained inflation “Kamalaflation,” although apparently they tried (Federalist). Guy Benson: Prices are up 20% because of HER POLICIES — and she is on the record pushing for TRILLIONS in additional inflationary spending (X).

Glenn Youngkin Passes Executive Order to Protect Voter Integrity in Virginia

Katie Pavlich: Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin signed an executive order Wednesday implementing additional voter integrity measures ahead of the 2024 presidential election, including stronger protections to keep illegal immigrants from registering to vote and eventually casting ballots (Townhall). Glenn Youngkin: Call me crazy, but I think American elections should be decided by American citizens, and Virginia elections should be decided by Virginians (X).

Video Emerges of Planned Parenthood Selling Body Parts of Aborted

Townhall: Videos filmed in 2015 showing Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of fetal body parts were released this week. David Daleiden, a pro-life activist at the Center for Medical Progress (CMP), was investigated by Vice President Kamala Harris, the former California attorney general, for taping conversations with Planned Parenthood staffers that showed them discussing abortions, selling the body parts, among other things (Townhall). Center for Medical Progress: In newly-released undercover video Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast says “pull off a leg or two” to cover up partial-birth abortions to sell body parts. They wanted to “move forward” selling liver-thymus pairs for $1,600. Planned Parenthood asked Kamala Harris to seize this video from David Daleiden 8 years ago (X). Biden Administration Targets Pro-Life Activists Including Concentration Camp Survivor

Daily Wire: A father of two facing more than a decade in prison over his participation in a peaceful pro-life protest in Michigan said Wednesday that he couldn’t fathom spending another week away from his wife and family. Joel Curry, of Saginaw, Michigan, faces up to 11 years in federal prison and hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines if convicted of a felony conspiracy against rights and FACE Act charge this month. His trial, alongside that of six co-defendants, began this week at the Theodore Levin courthouse in Detroit. Curry, a devout Christian and pro-life advocate, was targeted by the Biden administration after he sat and stood in front of the doors of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan (Daily Wire). International Family News: Eva Edl, an 89-year-old concentration camp survivor, may face over a decade in jail if found guilty on federal conspiracy charges in relation to her involvement in pro-life protests held at two Michigan abortion clinics (International Family News).
