Surprise, surprise. The Republicans that championed overturning Roe v. Wade under the guise that we should “return the issue to the states” are the very same Republicans who have enacted gerrymandered maps that make it harder for the will of the people to be heard in those states. But calling them out on their unaccountable extremism is not enough. We must remain steadfast in our pursuit of fairness, because the fight for equal representation is crucial in stopping the ongoing assault on reproductive rights.
The state-by-state push to ban abortions and threaten reproductive freedom is a symptom of a larger problem: the erosion of our democratic institutions.
