On Tuesday, Kamala Harris announced Tim Walz as her running mate in the 2024 Presidential Election.

Before joining the House or becoming governor of Minnesota, Tim Walz was an adored high school social studies teacher and football coach. He left an impact on every student, with one saying she learned “you can have a bigger impact on a larger scale and public office is one of those ways that you can do that.”

Like Tim, my career in public service is rooted in the public education system. I climbed the ranks from volunteer, to Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Board of Education, to Orange County Commissioner, to the State House, and then to Congress — representing the diverse communities of NC-04.

The fact is, progress trickles down. When we elect leaders who truly care about the communities they serve, we witness invaluable change. I’m running for re-election to ensure my district, and our nation, continue to usher in critical legislation — especially for our students and teachers.
