Tell Congress:

"Stop Donald Trump from taking over the U.S. Postal Service! Keep the USPS running during the pandemic with quarterly payments to cover the Postal Service’s increased costs and decreased income."

John,

Donald Trump is using the pandemic as an excuse to achieve long-held right-wing goals that would bring people into the streets (if only it were safe to do so!).

His latest assault is on the US Postal Service, which is a miracle of infrastructure and investment that forms a backbone of the American economy. People can rely on it, it’s affordable, and universal. No wonder Republicans have spent decades trying to destroy it to the benefit of corporations.

ADD YOUR NAME: Save the Post Office from Donald Trump!

First, he appointed a privatizer as Postmaster General. Next, as the pandemic has led to a reduction in first-class mail, he’s promised to veto any federal aid for the USPS unless it passes oversight of the Postal Service to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and QUADRUPLES prices.

This would be a disaster for millions of Americans who rely on the USPS, especially seniors and people with disabilities.

Article 1, Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution ensures that our government establish and maintain a Postal Service. Public ownership of the Post Office ensures that mail service remains simple and universal. Trump’s plan would end that promise.

The GOP has the same “solution” for pretty much every aspect of American life: privatize it.

That’s been their plan with Social Security. That’s their plan for Medicare. And now they’re at it again, in an attempt to privatize the U.S. Postal Service, which would dismantle a cornerstone of American life.

We’re proud to stand in coalition with allies to defend the USPS from Trump and his Republican cronies. Sign now to join us!

Thanks,

Michael Phelan
