I’ve spent a lot of time in newsrooms over the course of my career. Sometimes, as an editor, you read something so mind-boggling that you have to take a minute and realize, no, seriously, the words you’re looking at are actual facts.
Here’s the truth: Nick LaLota and his do-nothing MAGA colleagues in Congress couldn’t figure out how to fund the government for next year - so instead of doing the common sense thing and finding a bipartisan solution, they took their football and went home. Instead of doing their jobs, they canceled votes and decided to get an early start on their 6-week summer break.
That is a firing offense.
I’m not putting any other words around that sentence. Breaking your promises and abandoning your job is a firing offense, full stop. You can’t lie your way out of that. You can’t mislead voters about it. Nick LaLota and his MAGA colleagues are intentionally walking away from the problems we need to solve. No wonder he keeps bailing on border security, small business relief, and national defense. These Trump flunkies are turning and running from the problems you and I face every day because they can’t solve them. It’s weak and yes, it’s a firing offense.
