Hi, it’s Shannon Watts, founder emerita of Moms Demand Action and one of Emerge’s national board members.

Our movement to put an end to senseless gun violence has never been stronger. However, we face a pressing issue – MAGA Republicans are more concerned with stripping away a person’s right to abortion and reproductive freedom, while the gun violence epidemic still affects thousands of families across the country. We cannot afford to wait. We need your support now.

I would like to repeat President Biden’s message – “control guns, not girls.”

Now, we have the opportunity of a lifetime to elect Vice President Kamala Harris as the first woman President! The original candidate who sparked the Emerge movement, Harris is a committed gun violence prevention champion and will fight to restore every person’s right to abortion.

This is an entirely new race – we’re going to get younger voters, voters of color, and independent voters energized and get out to vote this election. Vice President Harris being at the top of the Democratic ticket will energize voters about down-ballot races in their states. We can’t take this moment for granted and need to rally our grassroots support behind Democratic women across the country.

It’s all that Emerge stands for: helping Democratic women get elected at every level of government. That’s why I’m asking – will you stand with me in showing your support for Emerge to ensure they have the resources to support Democratic women up and down the ballot?
