You’ve probably heard the news: Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate! I’m going to tell you why I know bringing him on the team was the right decision, but John, I need your help first:

Here’s why I’m excited, John. Tim Walz isn’t just an effective leader who stands up for middle-class and working Americans—he’s a team player in every sense. He led his team to win the championship as a high school football coach and served as a faculty sponsor for the school’s gay-straight alliance to build a more inclusive community – in rural Minnesota.

Like me, Tim Walz knows that being a team player doesn’t end when you step off the football field. He’s been a teammate to every Minnesotan as Governor: He made school lunches free in his state, eased the burden on low-income households, and ensured that abortion rights remained protected after Roe v. Wade was overturned.

After my career in the NFL, I took a similar path by running for the State Senate when Republicans tried to ban abortion in Virginia. I was proud to flip the seat from red to blue and be the tie-breaking vote to stop them.

That’s the kind of leadership our country deserves. It’s also the kind of leadership I will bring as Virginia’s next Lieutenant Governor. But to get there, I need your help. Will you chip in $10 to support my campaign and elect a team player for Virginia?
