Wacky Walz and Kooky Kamala Against Everything America Stands For

[[link removed]]

Kamala has named Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her VP pick. This decision is great news for Republicans across the nation. Governor Walz's policies have consistently leaned towards the extreme left, and their ticket further highlights the Democrats' out-of-touch agenda.

While they push for higher taxes, open borders, and radical environmental policies, we remain committed to protecting the values that make our country strong: limited government, law and order, personal freedom, economic growth, and a strong border. Texans, and all Americans, need a leader like President Trump who will put your needs and America’s needs first. This election will be a clear choice between the Democrats' socialist policies that have failed America the last four years and our vision for a prosperous, secure, and free America.

Let's rally together and ensure a decisive Republican victory in November!

Patrick Didn’t Flunk Beryl After All

In case you missed it, two weeks ago, Texas Division of Emergency Management’s (TDEM) Chief Nim Kidd and I sat down with the The Houston Chronicle Editorial Board and news division to respond to two editorials and a few articles that I believed needed to be addressed. We had a very productive 3-hour meeting in which they listened intently, asked questions, and took copious notes. Their conclusion was:

"Texas Division of Emergency Management served Texans well after Beryl. Turns out, so did Patrick."

"We didn't flunk," Patrick told us. "In fact, we performed at a very high level." There's truth to that statement."

Here are a few additional quotes from the Chronicle Editorial Board's editorial:

"We followed up on his (Patrick’s) claims and, when it comes to aid in the immediate aftermath of a storm, Patrick appears to be right."

"Patrick made the case that he hadn't forgotten to file early for federal assistance. The decision was strategic..."

"So, if Texas had requested a declaration earlier, would the federal money have flowed any faster? No, not from our estimation after learning more about the complicated dance of disaster declarations."

"Once requests started coming in from local governments, the state was quick to respond, according to Patrick. "They had everything that they asked for."

"We didn't need the federal government on day one, two or three."

"That's a hard claim to verify. We didn't survey all of the 121 counties named in the state's disaster declaration. But the offices we heard back from in Montgomery, Harris and Galveston counties confirmed that they got what they needed, from backup generators to power traffic lights to ice."

"Houston Mayor John Whitmire called Kidd a "godsend" at a Senate hearing Monday and said there had never been better collaboration between the state and city."

"We could call you in a minute's notice," state Sen. Carol Alvarado, D-Houston, told Kidd in the hearing, "and you'd have truck loads of ice and water for us to distribute."

"Over three legislative sessions, the state has invested around $500 million in appropriations and capital projects for its emergency response out of TDEM. That money made all the difference during Beryl."

Once again, I want to thank the Houston Chronicle Editorial Board for holding an in-depth meeting to discuss how Texas' emergency management response has changed over the years. I want to thank them for their time, diligent follow-up work, and willingness to meet and discuss this important topic.

As long as I am Lt. Governor, I will always have Texans' best interests in mind.

My Letter to the Public Utility Commission of Texas

As promised, here is the letter [[link removed]] I sent to the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUC) urging them to claw back $800 million of ratepayer money from CenterPoint. I remain committed to fighting on behalf of ratepayers to ensure they do not pay for CenterPoint’s mismanagement.

Pre-Screening of Dennis Quaid's New Film "Reagan"

[[link removed]]

On Monday night, I hosted a pre-screening of Dennis Quaid's new film "Reagan," which opens in theaters on August 30th. Dennis and I met a few years ago and have become friends. We started the evening with a small get-together, followed by an interview in the Bob Bullock Theater before the movie. It was interesting to watch the film sitting next to him, getting a running commentary, and having Quaid answer my questions about the film.

At the end of the film, Quaid received a standing ovation from the 300-person packed theater. The film was fantastic. It offered a historical perspective relevant to today's political news.

Thank you all for your support and everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.

Sincerely,

Dan Patrick [[link removed]]
