Hi John,

I hope you are well and having a lovely Sunday. If you're looking for something to do today or next week, I have something for you!

Take the 2.6 Challenge of your choice, and help animals!

Right now around the nation people are joining this fundraising challenge to help charities who have been hit by the Covid-19 crisis.

Freedom for Animals is taking part too and we've already seen some great ideas like baking 26 animal themed cakes (yum!), doing 260 burpees in one day (ouch!) and my own challenge, learning the name for 'elephant' in 26 languages!

You can pick any challenge you like as long as the theme is around the numbers 2.6, 26 or 260... and every penny raised wil be used to help animals who are still desperately in need.

Check out the details below or jump straight to our challenge page: https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/charity-web/charity/displayCharityCampaignPage.action?campaignId=12453&charityId=0

The challenge starts today but many are getting involved over the next week, so you have time to get creative!

Have fun and thank you for all you are doing for animals!

Hello John,

I hope you are keeping well and healthy at this time. Here at Freedom for Animals we are still all working from home and with your help we are doing all we can to keep our campaigns going for animals.

Before I get into the news of this exciting event happing this Sunday (and beyond!) I want to share an update on the fantastic Zoo Awareness Weekend we held a couple of weeks ago! Your efforts were amazing with so many getting involved at home and online to speak out for owls and other birds suffering in captivity!

Check out our round up here and see some of the creative ways people like you got involved!

Thank you for getting involved and taking action for animals. It means a lot to have you on board, especially at the moment with life feeling starnge and uncertain. I am glad we can keep being active in some way.

Well on the back of that great success I am delighted to give you another way you can get active at home to help animals!

Starting this Sunday the nation is getting involved in the 2.6 Challenge to raise money to help charities like Freedom for Animals.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating effect on charities, with the cancellation of thousands of events and the loss of billions in fundraising income. To help, the 2.6 Challenge will launch on Sunday 26th April (the day the London Marathon would have taken place) and charities are calling on their supporters across the UK to get involved!

And we are calling on you, a fellow animal activist, to get involved too!

All you have to do is choose a challenge based around the numbers 2.6, 26 or 260 and raise sponsorship or donate to help fund our campaigns for animals!
  • How about running 2.6 miles in your garden?
  • Doing 260 jumping jacks in one day!
  • Or baking 26 cakes!
  • You could even learn the word for elephant in 26 languages!
Whatever you choose you'll be helping to make sure our campaigns for animals can continue.

To get involved all you have to do is visit our info page and follow the simple steps. Please do send me an email to let me know what you are doing (just click reply)!

I really hope that you can get involved and have fun doing it too! Thank you again for staying involved and continuing your work for animals.

Good luck in your challenge!

For the animals,

Nicola O'Brien
Campaigns Director

P.S. Times are difficult for charities across the UK now, including Freedom for Animals, putting our work for animals at risk. BUT you can help! TAKE PART in the 2.6 Challenge starting on Sunday and help raise funds for our campaigns whilst having fun! Thank you
