INCREASED INDEPENDENCE FOR ETHICS COMMISSION

Last week, the City Council unanimously agreed to place a measure on the November ballot to increase the independence of the City’s Ethics Commission. Thank you, City Attorney Elliott, for your leadership in bringing these proposed changes forward–I appreciated the opportunity to work with you, the Commissioners, and Executive Director Sharon Spivak. Too often actions like this get lost in higher-profile issues, this measure is common sense and good governance.

SIDEWALK SAFETY FOR SCHOOLS

We continue to focus on Safe Routes to School! The City’s Transportation Department added or refreshed crosswalks outside 11 schools, including D1’s Sessions Elementary School. Let us know where else crosswalks are needed! 🎒🍎📓🚸

SLURRY SEAL OR ASPHALT OVERLAY

Residents often ask what kind of road resurfacing options the City uses when making repairs in D1. How do we know which to use? A slurry seal is for street damage prevention and increases longevity, and an asphalt overlay is a fresh layer of asphalt.
