I want to share the story of how I got to know President Trump. It’s so surreal looking back on our over two decades-long relationship.
My staff told me Mr. Donald Trump was on the phone 24 years ago. I didn’t believe them but I came to the phone and it was really him! He said he was watching me on Christian television.
He recited my sermon verbatim, and told me I had the “it factor”. I laughed and said, “Oh sir, that’s what they call the anointing.” And that was our “hello” and the start of one of the most fulfilling relationships in my life.
I am honored to be President Trump’s personal pastor, and blessed to know him in a way that’s more personal than most people.
I say time and time again, I wish everyone knew the President Trump I know. He absolutely has a relationship with God and his faith is important to him, his family and for the country. Over the years, our relationship has grown stronger and stronger, and during his first term, he provided me with the opportunity to advise on his Faith and Opportunity Initiative at the White House.
I’m so proud of the work we were able to accomplish in the White House, but we were just getting started! I started the National Faith Advisory Board as a way to continue our journey to create generational change with a strong voice on the issues and policies that matter most to the faith community. We have had GREAT success!
