You might not know this, John, but in my first election, I decided to run against a Republican incumbent who had been in Congress for 22 years and had been unopposed in the previous election. 

Most people thought I was crazy to even consider it – but on election night, I proved them all wrong, coming from behind to win by nearly 7 points.

Fast forward a few years, and I decided to run against a 12-year incumbent named Ted Cruz.

A lot of folks think defeating an entrenched GOP incumbent like Cruz isn't possible – but we’re about to prove them wrong, again.

You see, Ted Cruz is more vulnerable than most people think. In fact, CNN just updated their top 10 most vulnerable Senate seats list and ranked Cruz as THE MOST vulnerable GOP Senator. And that's on the heels of not one, not two, but THREE polls showing us statistically tied.

I know we can beat the odds, just like I did in my first race, but I also know I can't do it alone. Ted has GOP mega donors writing him huge checks and right-wing groups pouring money into Texas to attack me. I’m counting on people like you, John, to help me fight back and win this election.

That’s why I’m personally asking: Please, will you chip in $5, or anything you can, to help me hit my $100,000 goal by midnight so I can defeat Ted Cruz and help Democrats protect our razor-thin Senate majority?
