Dear Members and Associates,
Sunday at 4 pm is our second online membership meeting, and I hope you will join us. Despite the lockdown, there is a lot going on, and a lot of need, and we dearly need to organize however we can.
Use this link to register for our meeting if you haven't already. Unlike our last meeting, you have to register, and use a password. This is to help prevent spammers, which have been a problem for some chapters. Your password will be sent to you automatically when you register.
DSA has a new campaign to organize frontline workers, and JP Kaderbeck from Chicago DSA will be joining us for a bit to explain what the goals are. JP is a member of DSA's national Democratic Socialist Labor Commission Steering Committee (DSLC). They are encouraging us to share this form with workers. If you are interested in helping this effort yourself, you can find more information about DSA's Emergency Workplace Organizing Committee at this link.
Our electoral committee has been hard at work drafting some needed changes to our bylaws. Please read the proposed language here.
Our Treasurer Troy has been working with Marcia and Kathryn on a proposal for a solidarity fund, based in large part on the successful fund created by Twin Cities DSA. Please read over their proposal here.
Our agenda tomorrow is as follows:
1. Introductions (if meeting is small enough, as it likely will be)
2. Possible discussion with JP Kaderbeck from Chicago DSA on DSA's labor focus during covid.
3. Electoral Committee Update (new proposal discussion, plus how we might handle requests for endorsements in the meantime).
4. Housing Committee Update (what are one or two simple demands we can organize around?)
5. Solidarity Fund report and vote.
6. Brainstorm session--what are Duluth specific needs right now that we can fight for?
7. Treasurer's report
8. Secretary's report
8. Adjourn!
In Solidarity
John Krumm
