Friend,
Imagine being a young boy who lives in fear of being jumped and beaten against your will into a local gang. Every day becomes a difficult choice.
Should you stay and deal with the possibility of being forcibly recruited by a criminal group to do their dirty work?
Or should you leave everything you know and love behind, and travel thousands of miles to the United States on your own, in the hope that you might find a safe haven?
That's the choice Joaquin* was forced to make . After being viciously attacked in his hometown by members of a local gang, Joaquin became his own Waymaker and decided to make the journey to New York City to reunite with his mother and younger siblings.
In honor of children like Joaquin, from September 1 to 30th, our goal is to collectively walk, run, or roll 1,500 miles , the same distance a child would travel from Honduras in search of safety to the United States, and raise $35,000.00.
Join us in being and acknowledging Waymakers. Every dollar will go towards sustaining the programs that ensure that no child ever walks alone again.
