A year after Minnesota became a trans refuge, ‘transplants’ make themselves at home
-- MPR News
John: one year ago, Governor Tim Walz - now VP nominee Tim Walz! - signed a trans refuge bill into law, ensuring LGBTQ+ people had a safe haven in the Midwest.
And not just this bill: thanks to the 12 LGBTQ+ elected officials serving in the state legislature, the state repealed anti-sodomy laws, reformed their anti-discrimination laws to protect LGBTQ+ people AND banned conversion therapy! We are so proud of the LGBTQ+ state legislators, advocates and allies who pushed for these pro-equality bills. And we want to let them know that we've got their backs. Add your name to celebrate LGBTQ+ rights in Minnesota and the amazing work of these LGBTQ+ elected officials!
These victories are a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when our community has strong representation in government. Our champions in Minnesota have shown that when we have a seat at the table, we can make a real difference.
And they know the fight is far from over. State legislators Brion Curran, Leigh Finke, Scott Dibble, Erin Maye Quade, Clare Oumou Verbeten and so many more are pushing for more pro-equality bills. We need more LGBTQ+ individuals in positions of power to stand up for our rights and protect our communities.
And when they're working overtime to protect our rights, we're celebrating their success, John! Sign on today and let them know you see their great work - and you're standing with them in victory!
Thank you for standing with us and for your commitment to creating a more inclusive and just society,
