ICASH Event
My office hosted a successful ICASH event at the Park Forest Public Library. Thank you to the Illinois Treasurer's Office for collaborating with us on offering this great public service!
IUOE Local 150 Training Center Tour
I had the opportunity to tour the IUOE Local 150’s William E. Dugan Training Center in Wilmington. This informative tour showed me more about their instruction and training practices. It was also helpful to learn more about PILMA (Pharmaceutical Industry Labor-Management Association) and their relationship with the trades. Thank you to Local 150 and PHILMA for making this tour possible!
NEW Animal Control Center
I attended a ribbon cutting at the new Kankakee Animal Control facility. Congratulations to everyone who worked so hard to make this new center a reality!
4th of July Celebration
Thank you to the Kankakee Valley Symphony Orchestra and KCC for inviting me to be a part of the program and lead the Pledge of Allegiance.
KVSO Annual Dinner
I had the chance to attend the KVSO Annual Dinner where they gave updates on their upcoming season. I also want to extend my congratulations to Yvonne Chalfant, Barbara Schwark, and Jane Veers for receiving the Janet V. Leonard 'Con Spirito' Award!
Bastille Day Brunch in Kankakee
I had the chance to attend the Bastille Day brunch where I presented House Joint Resolution 58, which declares June 15th as Illinois History Day, to constituent Ken Ponton. Ken brought the idea for this resolution to my office and we worked together to make this happen. I always appreciate constituent ideas for legislation that I can bring to Springfield on their behalf!
Will County Farm Bureau Picnic
It was great to chat with everyone who attended the Will County Farm Bureau family picnic! Thank you to the Will County Farm Bureau for the great support for our local farmers and their families!
Tour of Golf Vista Estates in Monee
I had the chance to tour Golf Vista Estates, a 55+ retirement community in Monee. Thanks to the staff who showed me around this great living option for our retirees and seniors!
Monee Senior Expo
I had the chance to set up a table at the Monee Senior Fair. It was a great opportunity for me to speak more with members of the senior community and explain all the services my office can offer!
QuikTrip Ribbon Cutting
Congratulations to the new QuikTrip location in University Park on your grand opening! We are all thrilled to welcome you to the community!
Local Business Spotlight
For my July 2024 local business spotlight, I am honored to recognize Made for Me Boutique in Bourbonnais. They are dedicated to creating a warm, welcoming environment for members of our community to feel like the best versions of themselves. I applaud Theresa, Valerie, and their entire team at Made for Me Boutique for working to help women in our community feel comfortable and confident. Their work has positively impacted the entire area and I appreciate all they have done for others. I look forward to seeing this local company grow in the future!
ICASH Event
My office hosted our second ICASH event of the summer yesterday at the Bourbonnais Public Library. Thank you to the Illinois Treasurer’s Office for partnering with us for this event!
Park Forest Youth Day
What a great time at the Park Forest Youth Day! I was proud to sponsor this event and help pass out hundreds of backpacks filled with school supplies to help our students succeed!
River Valley Metro 25th Anniversary
I had a lovely evening celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Kankakee River Valley Metro Mass Transit District last night! Congratulations on 25 years, and thank you to all involved for making this service possible for the community! 🚍
GEDC Event
I attended the GEDC summer event. It was great to speak with other officials and community members, see many old friends, and meet some great new ones! Thanks to Nancy and her team at the GEDC for all the great work you do!
Funding Opportunity

IDNR OSLAD Grant

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) will accept applications for the next round of Open Space Land Acquisition and Development (OSLAD) grants between July 1 through Sept. 13. OSLAD is a cost-sharing program between state and local governments that has become one of the most popular grant programs in Illinois. Since it was established, OSLAD has awarded more than $585 million for park projects throughout Illinois. Click the link below for more information!

    • National Pet Fire Safety Day is an important reminder of the steps pet owners can take to help protect their pets in case of a fire. Some safety practices include attaching a pet alert window cling or practicing evacuation with your pets.

    • National Moon Day commemorates the day man first walked on the moon in 1969. Happy Moon Day!
  • National Ice Cream Day
    • July 21st is National Ice Cream Day! Be sure to enjoy this holiday by grabbing a scoop from your favorite ice cream shop.
  • National Hire a Veteran Day
    • July 25th is Hire a Veteran Day. This day reminds employers to consider the brave men and women who have served our nation to fill their open positions.
  • National Disability Independence Day
    • National Disability Independence Day commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on this day in 1990. This landmark legislation protects those with disabilities from discrimination and ensures they have equal access to resources.
  • Korean War Veterans Armistice Day
    • June 27th 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed, which officially ended the Korean War. Today be sure to remember and honor those who served during this war while also remembering the importance of peace across the globe.

4th Annual Summer Reading Program
I am thrilled to offer my fourth annual summer reading program again this year! Students from Kindergarten to 5th grade can participate by reading ten or more books before August 5th, 2024. Books over 150 pages count for two books. All students who complete their summer reading will receive an invitation to an ice cream party and certificate ceremony in late summer!
