Hey there, it’s Laura Kelly – Governor of Kansas. I’m reaching out today to you because as of today, I am the new Chair of the Democratic Governors Association! I’m honored to serve, and I couldn’t be more excited to get to work. The first item on my agenda? Reaching out this grassroots team.

Yesterday, my friend and previous Chair, Governor Tim Walz, was selected to be Vice President Harris’ running mate. I’ve known Tim for years and his commitment to public service, record of winning tough races and dedication to improving lives makes him exceptionally prepared to help Vice President Harris win and deliver for the American people. As DGA Chair, he helped break fundraising records and put Democratic candidates for governor in the best position to be competitive in tough races this year and beyond – I am ready to do the same.

Tim also told me that none of it would have been possible without the invaluable input and support from grassroots supporters like you. So as one of my first acts as DGA Chair, I wanted to reach out to you directly. I’ve even included a personalized link you can use!

John, while Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are leading the top of the ticket, Democratic governors are fighting for progress in the states.

We’re protecting abortion rights and the right to vote, lowering healthcare prices, investing in our infrastructure and fighting back against Republican attacks on our freedoms.

But this election is going to be a major test. There are 11 critical governor races on the ballot including in battleground states like North Carolina and New Hampshire and the GOP is already spending millions to defeat our Democrats. With reproductive freedom, democracy, and voting rights on the line, the stakes couldn’t be higher, and it’s never been more important to elect Democratic governors.

I know what it means to win tough races in a red state. The DGA was by my side for two tough fights in 2018 and 2022, and I’m glad to be by theirs as we sprint to the finish line to elect Democratic governors in key states across the country and build on the DGA’s record of success this fall – but we can’t do it without you. We need feedback from on the ground, in-the-know folks like you to develop our strategy to win competitive governors races across the country this November.

After making history in her decisive second-term victory in a state Trump won by almost 15% in 2020, Gov. Kelly is building on her accomplishments and charting a bold agenda.
