Friend,
Have you heard the news? The Texas Education Agency's Office of School Safety and Security is preparing for the launch of its new Sentinel system which will improve the state’s threat assessment system.
Threat assessment systems save lives, friend. And don’t just take our word for it — here are what other school safety champions have to say about these programs:
- Threat assessment can generate support for students in need of services like counseling, mental health services, and academic support
- A study of 1,865 cases in Virginia found that students who received a threat assessment made no attempt to carry out their threat in 97% of cases
At Stand With Parkland, we believe these measures are crucial because of their preventative nature they can transform what could be a heartbreaking disaster, into just another school day.
If more schools had these measures, my son Luke would still be here today.
These systems are more than just a protocol; they're a lifeline. Threat assessments help schools identify and address potential threats and bolster their emergency operations. It is our fervent hope that Texas and other states will continue to bolster the safety of classrooms.
Friend, we need your help to expand these life-saving programs nationwide. Will you contribute $25, $50, or whatever you can to support our efforts to make every school a safe haven for our children?
