Dear John,

I am thrilled to invite you to the Ceres 35th Anniversary Gala on October 23 at Pier Sixty, New York. It will be a night to celebrate where we’ve been and where we’re headed, together.

I joined the Ceres team 27 years ago. I've played a part in our growth from a small coalition advocating for corporate responsibility to an effective, innovative nonprofit accelerating the transition to a just and sustainable economy.

It has been an incredible journey:

1989: Issued the Ceres Principles, the first-ever code of environmental conduct for corporations.
1997: Co-created the Global Reporting Initiative—the GRI standards for sustainability reporting are now used by more than 10,000 companies.
2015: Mobilized investors and businesses to support the Paris Climate Agreement.
2022: Built private sector support that helped enact the largest investments in reducing carbon pollution in U.S. history—the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.
2024: Advocated for the mandatory climate disclosure rule adopted by the SEC.

It would be an honor to have you join us at the Ceres 35th Anniversary Gala to celebrate these milestones. They are a shared victory, a testament to the collective dedication and support from incredible individuals like you.

I’ve had the pleasure of celebrating many Ceres anniversaries. I can promise you will be in good company with hundreds of investors, executives, policymakers, philanthropists, social sector leaders, environmentalists and nonprofit leaders who are all committed to move forward, together.
