Euro 2024 triggers boom in sales of no- and low-alcohol drinks

The UK saw a surge in sales of no- and low-alcohol beer, cider, wine and canned mocktails during the men’s European 2024 football tournament. One leading retailer reported that sales of alcohol-free drinks were up by a fifth following the start of the tournament in mid-June.
 

People in deprived areas more likely to live near off-licences

Residents in deprived areas, as well as minority ethnic groups and young people are more likely to live closer to retail outlets such as off-licences, tobacconists, and betting shops, according to new research from The Health Foundation.
 

Why scientific support for alcohol's health benefits is fading

New research has exposed flaws of older, often alcohol industry-funded studies on the health benefits of drinking and finds the lowest mortality risk in lifelong abstinence.

This October, help us to ‘Make it Orange’ to reduce alcohol harm. All you have to do is choose an orange-themed activity, tell people when and where it is and how to get involved! Here’s some ideas to get you started: 

  • Bake sale featuring cakes with orange flavour or icing 
  • Mocktail party with orange flavours, mixers and drinks  
  • Create StravaArt  
  • Pumpkin carving session  
  • Collections using our orange bucket  

Or you can do your own thing, as long as it’s orange of course. If you want to get involved in ‘Make it Orange’ or need some help with ideas, contact us.
