Kitsap County Refines Tree Protection Proposals for Urban Development
As part of the 2024 Comprehensive Plan process, Kitsap County is developing new rules for trees in future urban development. These rules, which are seperate from wetland and stream protections, would apply to both single-family and multi-family projects within urban growth areas. The Board of Commissioners aims to balance preserving existing trees and planting new ones with the need for housing, especially on smaller, more challenging lots.
Kitsap County will hold a virtual workshop on the proposed tree canopy rules on:
August 15, 2024, at 6:00 PM on Zoom
The workshop will include a presentation followed by break-out groups for community discussion about the current proposals.
