Dear John, I’m sure you’ve heard: Yesterday, Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Walz is a radically pro-abortion governor who earned a 0% pro-life rating from the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC). As governor, Walz signed a law guaranteeing legal abortion throughout all stages of pregnancy for any reason. He also cut back regulations on abortion facilities and withdrew funding for pro-life pregnancy resource centers. Harris and Walz are running on the most pro-abortion ticket in American history. Here at Oregon Right to Life, we recognize that what happens at the national level can significantly impact pro-life advocacy here at the state level. That’s why we’re closely watching and reporting on these national developments as they occur. Kamala Harris has made it very clear she wants to codify Roe v. Wade, the wrongly decided 1973 Supreme Court case that mandated legally available abortion nationwide, leading to states like Oregon allowing abortion up to the very moment of birth. After almost five decades working to get Roe overturned, we can’t surrender to the abortion industry and their political allies. Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America, called on pro-life advocates nationwide to “fully engage to defeat the Harris-Walz extreme abortion agenda in November.” John, this election is too important to sit out. With less than 100 days left to go before Election Day, be prepared to make your voice heard on behalf of the most vulnerable – in Oregon’s local elections and in the national presidential contest.
