** Meet The Newly Elected Executive Board
------------------------------------------------------------
As our nation treads through these unfamiliar waters, it is paramount that citizens remain civically engaged in this election year. As more platforms move digital, it is vital that young people take the reins in assisting campaign efforts to ensure that people get registered to vote, receive literature about candidates and participate in phone banking efforts to inform our families, friends and neighbors about the importance of this year’s election. We must keep the House, regain the Senate and change leadership in the White House if we are going to see big structural change that is fueled by progressive policies.
Hello Fellow Young Democrats! My name is Bailey Stinson and I serve as the Executive Vice President for YDNC. During this unprecedented time, I know all of us are feeling a wide range of emotions. Grief, loss, sadness, anxiety, frustration, stress, loneliness, uneasiness, helplessness, or simply overwhelmed with it all. And as we navigate this difficult time, there is one thing that always helps me through. I look for the helpers; the people who step up to share their talents and resources to help others around them. I am continually inspired by the innovation, generosity, and selflessness shown by so people in communities across our state and our nation. From the volunteers sewing masks and using 3D printers to produce face shields, to bus drivers delivering healthy meals to students and sock manufacturers retrofitting machines to knit face masks. It is through these acts, the true character of who we are as a state and as a nation is revealed as individuals from every nation, creed, and
career come together to support one another in times of need and uncertainty.

As we begin the process of returning to a new normal, the countdown to election day is always looming. We know that this election will be the most important election of our lifetime. This election will mark a turning point in the future of our nation that is why it is imperative that Millennials and Gen Z voters turn out in November. It is estimated that Millennials and Gen Z will make up 37% of the 2020 electorate. However, Baby Boomers and Gen X still maintain the highest rate of voter turnout. Because of this every door knocked, text sent, phone call made, postcard written, dollar donated, and vote cast makes a difference in getting Democrats elected! Remember, you are the essential workforce of our future. We cannot turn NC Blue without YOU!

Take care of one another, have faith in the future we can build together, and always keep up the good fight for a better tomorrow.
Hey y'all! My name is Wilson Brown and I am honored to serve as your VP of Communications for YDNC. I am from Wayne County, located at the heart of rural Eastern North Carolina. I have previously served as Communications Director for the College Democrats of North Carolina, and President of the ECU College Democrats Chapter (GO PIRATES!)

I am so excited to serve the next year, working to help mobilize, organize, and energize Young Dems across North Carolina. However, I can't do it without your help. I'd love to help local YD chapters by helping share your events and activities. I want to keep YDs informed of all the happenings in NC, and this newsletter is just one of the many ways I plan on doing that.
My name is Kelvin Stallings, Vice President of the Young Democrats of Wayne County and the 2020-2021 Vice President of Membership for the Young Democrats of North Carolina. We must be intentional with our approach in mobilizing our existing membership and rural communities heading into Election Day. It will take a group effort on behalf of all of our chapters to reach neighbors, organize in our own backyards and forge new relationships in our communities to ensure our ballot box success as a party on November 3rd, 2020.

I look forward to working with everyone this year to increase our membership, build our chapter base and ensure we do everything knowingly possible as a Young Democrats organization to unseat Donald J. Trump come this fall.
My name is Quamekia “Que” Shavers, current President of the Young Democrats of Forsyth County and Vice President of Development for YDNC. As Vice President of Development, I will ensure that the financial stability of the organization and all of the great work that each chapter produces is timely and adequately produced to encourage further community engagement, voter registration and education, voter ID requirements, rides to the polls, local and national candidate forums, community engagement and outreach.
I am Shannon Auer and am serving my third term as Secretary of the Young Democrats of North Carolina. 2020 is turning out to be quite an interesting year. We are learning how to navigate through unprecedented times with each passing day. It has become quite clear to us exactly how important our elected officials are as we face the COVID-19 pandemic. That being said, it is vital that we re-elect the Democrats in office and push to flip seats! We cannot wait until the Fall to become active; we need to use our time wisely and start now!
Hi, I'm Melissa Cordell, your YDNC Treasurer and also the president of the Young Democrats of Lincoln County. This year I'm looking forward to bringing out rural youth engagement in primarily red areas to show the power of our generation. We'll do this through high-powered fundraising and giving chapters the skills and resources they need to organize across the state. If you have any questions about financial compliance for your chapter, just give me a ring!

The election in November 2020 is the most important in our lifetime. We not only have candidates on the ballot, but also healthcare, climate, voting rights, and criminal justice reform. The current Republican members in our national, state, and local governments want to continue their unjust suppression of these rights. To combat these Republican efforts, we must elect Democratic candidates who will fight for a fair and equitable government that works for everyone––not just the rich and powerful.

The times we are living in are unprecedented. The COVID–19 pandemic has separated us from our daily routines and loved ones. Many people are discouraged and anxious about the uncertainty of the future. And the President’s mediocre and delayed response has only exacerbated these sentiments. We must elect new leadership with the aptitude to correctly handle COVID–19 and any future emergencies.

The involvement of everyone, especially young people, is necessary to achieve victory. Although we are currently quarantined, there are numerous opportunities to help your Democratic candidates. These candidates need volunteers to write handwritten letters to voters, make phone calls, and help spread their message through social media. Because even a minimal contribution will make a tremendous impact on the outcome of the election, please consider volunteering your time.
