The political winds are shifting quickly– social movements are working overtime to use the power we do have to ensure the best possible outcomes for working people. No current political option represents liberation, an end to the genocide in Gaza, or a transition of the economy away from capitalism. AND it’s in these chaotic moments, where our movements have the most potential to shift the terrain and make our collective dreams possible. We must harness that potential. We’re facing an urgent need to both defeat authoritarianism and put pressure on the Democratic party to break with Netanyahu's Government and commit to an arms embargo on Israel. Everyone has a role to play, and we want to help you find yours.  

Holding these two things at once is a contradiction. Leadership is trying to hold that contradiction and still move with and for the people, to build a powerful left that can govern in the future—that is what we see our partners with CPD Action and M4BL Action working to do.

Here are some of the ways our partners are navigating this moment: 

• Center for Popular Democracy Action, which represents over 100,000 working people, has endorsed VP Harris, with the understanding that “when we vote, we’re not voting for a savior; we’re voting for a target who shares enough of our values that, with strategic organizing, we can move them to implement policies that move us closer to the future we want.” They are in negotiations with the Biden/Harris administration to institute the 5% Rent Cap Biden introduced last month and are working on implementing a field program to talk to millions of renters and bring them into CPD affiliate organizations to build power for the long term. They need significant funding for both c3 and c4 to make this happen, and we encourage you to contribute or complete your pledge to make it happen by September!
  
  
• Movement for Black Lives is working with Rising Majority to participate in the Not Another Bomb Coalition to make it clear at the Democratic National Convention that we need a permanent ceasefire and arms embargo to stop the Genocide in Gaza. At the same time, they are running their long-term leadership development program with the Movement for Black Lives Action Fund across the South to build independent Black political power and block white nationalism and the MAGA movement. They need an influx of cash by September as well to complete their program and ensure the gains they’ve made in the South last far beyond this election cycle—can you fulfill or make a commitment to them today?
