Introduced as S.4753, The Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024, the legislation draws on provisions supported by both sides of the aisle as well as fossil and renewable energy interests and was passed out of committee on July 31, 2024. He has more than two decades of experience across a broad range of policy and communications issues, with particular experience dealing with energy, the environment and natural resources. He has testified before Congress and administrative agencies numerous times on matters related to energy and environmental policy. Scott taught law, policy development and communications at the University of Maryland (University College) and at Johns Hopkins University. Earlier in his career, he served as director of forensics at the University of Texas at Austin. Alex Herrgott - Alex Herrgott is the President and CEO of The Permitting Institute. In 2018, Alex was appointed as the Executive Director of the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council. Prior to that, he served as Director of Infrastructure, Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ), where he authored Executive Order 13807: One Federal Decision-Establishing Discipline and Accountability in the Environmental Review and Permitting Process for Infrastructure Projects. Previously Alex was the Deputy Staff Director for the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, Legislative Director for Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK), and Director of Transportation and Infrastructure at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Host Todd Johnston - Todd is the Vice President of Policy at ConservAmerica. Todd previously served at the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality and on committees with jurisdiction over environment, infrastructure, and energy issues in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
