As you know, we're a campaign deeply focused on our community — the voters in Texas' 25th district. We've always taken pride in being very present all over the district, day in and day out.

That hasn't changed — it just looks a little different now. 

Pausing in-person organizing and door-to-door canvassing to keep everyone safe forced us to expand our digital program a lot earlier than we anticipated. That's a good thing since there is an entire universe of voters who traditional organizing doesn't let us reach. But reaching Texas voters online in a more expansive way — for an undetermined amount of time — is not cheap.

We're holding events online, engaging Julie's robust social media audience in the same way we would if we could barnstorm all over the district. Since March 23, we've held 14 virtual town halls to be in community with one another and to talk about what matters most to Texas.

Right now, people all over the district are hurting. Too many of our fellow Texans who can’t work from home are having to make the choice between going to work at a job with no healthcare during a pandemic or not paying their bills. Many more are out of a job, or they’re in a place where they’re isolated and can’t get prescriptions or groceries. That's why we're using our volunteer phone banks to check in with our neighbors and connecting them with food, housing, and public health resources.

I'm proud of the work we’re doing together — and all of the work we’ve done to build this movement and organizing infrastructure has made it possible. But we can't let up now. Sending Julie to Congress to fight for Austin and Central Texas has never been more critical.
