Harris-Walz
Endorsement

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Greetings Young Democrats and Supporters,
The New Jersey Young Democrats is proud to endorse Vice
President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz for U.S. President and
Vice President, respectively. Our country is at a breaking point, and
the time to act is now. Our rights and livelihood are on the line. We
must mobilize our efforts like never before this election
cycle.
NJYD recognizes the Biden-Harris Administration's diligent
efforts to improve the lives of young people through gun control
reform, unprecedented climate action, federal student debt
forgiveness, raising the federal minimum wage for federal jobs,
listening to science and fact-based research, implementing protections
for women, communities of color, those with disabilities, and LGBTQIA+
communities, and more.
More specifically, of the two presidential candidates, only
one will be a champion and supporter of young Americans. That person
is Vice President Kamala Harris. We have witnessed her hard work to
protect fundamental freedoms across the country. She has led the fight
for the freedom of women to make decisions about their own bodies, the
freedom to live safe from gun violence, the freedom to vote, and the
freedom to drink clean water and breathe clean air. She presided over
the unprecedented vote to confirm the first Black woman, Justice
Ketanji Brown Jackson, to the Supreme Court while working alongside
President Biden to achieve historic representation of women and people
of color among nominees at all levels of the federal government. Among
other accomplishments, she also oversaw the establishment of the
first-ever White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.
Harris' running mate, Governor Tim Walz, a military veteran
and educator, is an ideal pick to help move this country in the right
direction. Walz codified reproductive healthcare as a fundamental
right in Minnesota by signing the Protect Reproductive Options Act and
signed many LGBTQ+ protection bills into law, including the lifesaving
Trans Refuge bill. Throughout his time in office, he has fought to
better lives by providing universal school meals, paid family leave,
red flag gun laws, marijuana legalization, and environmental
protections.
This is an exciting and vital time for our state and this
country. Please join me in taking the necessary actions to elect these
candidates and Democratic candidates in the Garden State. We have many
opportunities approaching for you to make a difference. I hope to see
you in the fight.
Let's make good trouble.
Yours in action,
Fatima Heyward President, New Jersey Young Democrats
