Cori Bush Lost Her Primary But She Upheld Morals, Serving as an Example for all Current and Future Elected Officials

In an attempt to combat the masses, AIPAC and the Zionist lobby spent millions of dollars in a desperate attempt to undermine Congresswoman Cori Bush’s candidacy for re-election to Missouri’s 1st Congressional District. Like many of you, we are highly disappointed in Tuesday night’s primary results. However, AJP Action recognizes that this loss represents the Zionist lobby’s desperate grasps for relevance, as they have to fundraise and spend millions of dollars to defeat candidates that stand up for human rights.

Throughout her time in office, Rep. Cori Bush has emerged as one of the most steadfast and principled advocates for Palestine and the broader struggle for liberation. Most notably, we recognize Rep. Bush’s incredible solidarity with the pro-Palestinian movement after the events of October 7th and the succeeding genocide. Cori Bush introduced the resolution calling for a ceasefire and an end to the genocide back in October. She has tirelessly fought on the right side of history, beginning her advocacy fighting for the Black Lives Matter struggle and as a nurse. Her legacy of unwavering dedication to human rights will endure long after her term, representing a giant in the world of human rights in Washington, D.C.

Even though she lost her primary, let’s be clear about what happened on Tuesday night: special interest groups funneled shady money into efforts that misled voters about Rep. Bush’s record. This loss is not a reflection of her dedication or effectiveness but a result of calculated disinformation pushed by AIPAC and the Zionist lobby which seeks to undermine the progress of Palestinian human rights.

Rep. Bush may be one of the first principled pro-Palestinian human rights advocates in Congress, but she will not be the last. We thank Rep. Bush for her incredible bravery and work these past four years, and look forward to continuing the fight for human rights alongside her and other Members of Congress until there is a liberated and free Palestine.

In solidarity,
AJP Action
