*DIMONDALE, MICH.* From Inkster to West Branch and many places in between, Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers had a great time interacting with community members during last night?s National Night Out.

National Night Out [ [link removed] ] is an annual community-building campaign that takes place the first Tuesday in August. Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out events across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide. Communities host family friendly events and cookouts with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much more.

?National Night Out is a community celebration that builds stronger police-community relationships,? said Governor Whitmer. ?I?m proud that since I took office, Michigan has invested more than $1.6 billion to protect public safety so Michiganders are safe when they go to work, drop their kids off at school, or pick up groceries. Together, we will build a Michigan where everyone has peace of mind built on a strong foundation of trust.?

In Michigan, over 60 communities hosted events on August 6 [ [link removed] ]. MSP troopers attended dozens of these events. A photo gallery can be viewed _here [ [link removed] ]_.

?National Night Out is one way we can give back and interact with those who we serve in a fun and casual environment,? stated Col. James F. Grady II, director of the MSP. ?I?m confident our troopers had as much, and maybe even more fun, talking, networking and laughing with attendees.?
