Yesterday, Kamala Harris announced Timothy Walz, Governor of Minnesota, as her pick for Vice President. Tim Walz is, by all accounts, an incredibly decent man whose track record of governing by building a feminist economy where children don’t go hungry, where people can purchase affordable homes, where guns aren’t allowed to flood the streets, where abortions are accessible, and where Queer and trans people can be free of the threat of conversion therapy.

But let’s talk about why America loves Walz. He seems to be breaking the fourth wall of politics and saying the things we are all thinking. The MAGA threat to democracy is dangerous, but… are they not first… just really fucking weird?? 

Three months out from the election in 2016, we thought we would win. We know now that we can’t take even one vote for granted. Will you pitch in for our Knock Your Block Campaign, which helps regular people get the people they love registered to vote? 

Isn’t it weird for a former president to post short-form fanfic about Biden re-claiming the candidacy and post it online? Or for the MAGA ticket to be running on talking points that say that a bi-racial woman who has always proudly claimed her full heritage (even while a student at Howard and pledging a historically Black sorority) has recently “turned Black”?

And also, WTF is going on with J.D. Vance’s eyeliner situation? 🧐
