We have a running mate! Let’s elect Harris-Walz this fall
------------------------------------------------------------
Vice President Harris has announced that Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota is her running mate in the 2024 presidential campaign.
Since Vice President Harris took over at the top of the Democratic ticket, her campaign and her base have been suffused with joy and exuberance, and Governor Walz has only added to that. These are public servants who want to help us meet our needs so we can thrive and be happy.
This is our opportunity to use this positive momentum and optimism to galvanize voters behind the progressive values Harris and Walz fulfill. We’re the party of free speech, reproductive freedom, stable housing, good jobs, healthy families, and common-sense safety laws—governance that works for everyone. We’re confident that the Harris-Walz administration, with a Democratic Congress at their back, will build on the progress of the Biden-Harris administration and do even more to deliver safety, health, and prosperity for us all.

We did it! We stopped KOSA—for now…
------------------------------------------------------------
Last week, the Senate passed the censorship and surveillance bill deceptively labeled the “Kids Online Safety Act.” Read our call script ([link removed]) for more information about it and why we and numerous other organizations were against it.
This week, the House’s Republican leadership announced that they will not take up the bill for passage—so in this Congress, at least, KOSA is dead ([link removed]) . Young people who use the internet to find knowledge and community and all of us who want a free and open public square can breathe a sigh of relief.
That said, bills do get regularly reintroduced in subsequent Congresses and this one had a frighteningly high amount of bipartisan support in the Senate. If KOSA gets reintroduced next year, we will need to continue to drive home to our Members of Congress—including freshman senator Adam Schiff—that this bill would do terrible harm and no good. It has the potential to make all of us less free while harming kids the most, so Democrats should change course and do the right thing next Congress.
