John, I said it on CNN, I said it on MSNBC, and I will say it to you now:

Donald Trump’s ugly performance at the National Association of Black Journalists’ 2024 conference last week was an effort to deflect and divide us — as he always has.

John, chip in $5 to my campaign to keep the focus on defeating the Trump-Vance ticket in November. We must not be distracted by Trump’s tired attempts to divide us.

As I reflected on this conference, it brought to mind a quote from the late Toni Morrison:

The function, the very serious function of racism, is distraction. It keeps you from doing your work. It keeps you explaining, over and over again, your reason for being.

We all saw how Trump questioned Vice President Kamala Harris’ race. How he questioned her identity. How he questioned her very reason for being.

We know who Donald Trump is, and we must not be distracted from our work.

While Trump wallows in grievance, conspiracy, and division, we have a joyful, optimistic campaign with the momentum to win in November. We will not allow him to drag the discourse to his level.

Instead, we are going to make history.

John, if you can afford it, please chip in $5 or more to my campaign to help me campaign for the Harris-Walz ticket and my Senate colleagues. When we elect President Kamala Harris and Vice President Tim Walz, let’s also deliver them the majorities in Congress they will need to get things done.
