An obviously desperate and spiraling Donald Trump took to Truth Social and began writing what can only be described as fan fiction about how "Kambala Harris" and all your favorite characters from the Trump-expanded universe — "Barack HUSSEIN Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left" — stole the nomination from the president and that Biden, despite enthusiastically endorsing the Harris-Walz ticket, was actually planning to CRASH the Democratic National Convention in order to re-enter the race and debate Trump again. The next generation of Democratic leaders delivered three barnburner speeches to a packed crowd of thousands at Temple University in Philadelphia yesterday. Gov. Josh Shapiro opened with a fiery promise to keep "getting sh*t done" for the people of Pennsylvania and led the crowd in a chant of "we're not going back!" before handing off to Vice President Harris, who touted her new running mate's lengthy and impressive résumé and compared him to JD Vance, saying “Well some might say it’s like a matchup between the varsity team and the JV squad." Tim Walz then took the stage and brought down the house, giving America a glimpse of the passion that drives him and his dedication to the issues that matter the most to Americans. “In Minnesota, we respect our neighbors and their personal choices that they make, even if we wouldn't make the same choice for ourselves. There’s a golden rule — mind your own damn business.” Walz wasn't afraid to go on the attack either, tearing into Donald Trump and his running mate: "Donald Trump’s not fighting for you or your family. And I gotta tell you, his running mate shares his dangerous and backward agenda for this country...They're weird and creepy as hell, and I can't wait to debate the guy...if he's willing to get off the couch and show up." That weird thing you're feeling right now? It's called hope. Embrace it, because we're gonna need it to win in November. But as Walz said, "We just gotta fight. We've just gotta fight, because as soon-to-be-President Harris says, ‘When we fight, we win...' We’ve got 91 days. My God, that’s easy. We'll sleep when we're dead." So LFG!

After two weeks of furiously protesting that they're not weird and actually it is you who is weird, the GOP propaganda machine decided the best course of action in response to the Tim Walz choice was to talk about children's genitals. You know, the normal thing to do. Once again showing their laser focus on the issues that matter most to the American middle class, right-wing grievance preachers like Chaya "LibsofTikTok" Raichik, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and Stephen Miller began calling Walz "Tampon Tim" because he signed a bill providing free menstrual products for all students in Minnesota public schools, which, as we all know, is literally communism. As if that wasn't off-putting and distasteful enough, the Make America Great Again PAC debuted their first attack ad against Gov. Walz, which opens with footage of a child pulling his pants and underwear down and sitting on the toilet before the voiceover embarks on a heinous attack on Walz's steadfast support for trans kids. Sure, guys, *please* keep talking about children's genitals. Definitely not weird in any way!

Citing integrity, union support, and "normality," Democrats rally around Walz as VP choice
Don't look now, but Democrats are reaching unheard of levels of Being In Array. Kamala Harris' selection of Tim Walz was universally applauded by the many disparate camps of the party, with everyone from AOC to Joe Freakin' Manchin united in their praise of the pick. The choice was equally popular among the various outside groups and communities that support Democrats. United Auto Workers leader Sean Fain said that "Tim Walz has been a great governor and is going to make a great vice opresident...He’s stood with the working class every step of the way, and has walked the walk, including on a UAW picket line last fall." Davie Kieve, the president of environmental group EDF Action, called Walz "a proven leader and climate champion." Stephanie Taylor, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, praised him as an "effortless populist" and urged Vice President Harris to "double down on [a] popular, pro-consumer, pro-worker agenda.” But wait, there's more! "Educators are fired up and united to get out and elect the Harris-Walz ticket,” said Becky Pringle, president of the three-million strong teachers union, the National Education Association. Democratic Majority for Israel President Mark Mellman called Walz “a proud pro-Israel Democrat with a strong record of supporting the US-Israel relationship," while even leaders in the Uncommitted activist movement pressuring the Democratic Party for an immediate end to US support for Israel's bloody war in Gaza offered wary praise, with one official saying that Walz “has demonstrated a remarkable ability to evolve as a public leader, uniting Democrats’ diverse coalition to achieve significant milestones for Minnesota families of all backgrounds." For the first time in a very long time, the whole party is on the same page. This is how we win!

New Georgia rules let local boards withhold election certification
While we all should definitely enjoy the hope and good vibes we're all feeling, we can't forget that behind the scenes, Donald Trump and his MAGA minions are working overtime to try to steal the election again — and this time they've got loyalists in power across the country ready to carry out their fascist bidding. Georgia’s State Election Board just adopted new rules that permit local election officials to withhold the certification of a vote in the face of "unspecified discrepancies," which in practice will mean "Trump is losing so I have decided these votes must be fraudulent." State Democratic Rep. Sam Park tore into the new rules, saying, "These are MAGA certification rules, and they're in direct conflict with Georgia law, which states in multiple places that local elections board officials shall perform their duties, meaning their duties are mandatory, not discretionary." While it's unclear how legal these new rules are — and rest assured, lawsuits will be filed post haste — we must remain vigilant against the GOP's anti-democratic schemes and vote in such overwhelming numbers that there can be no question as to who the real winner is in November.

Arizona judge blocks election procedures designed to shield election worker from harassment, leaves other rules intact
Following in the theme of "they're gonna try to steal the election again," an Arizona judge has temporarily blocked new election rules to protect election workers from the intimidation, harassment, and death threats that are inevitably directed towards anyone who might pose a threat to Donald Trump's struggle to regain power. Somehow, the judge saw these rules as a "chill" to voters' "free speech." In the 2022 election, armed, right-wing vigilantes set up a "monitoring" campaign in which they'd stand near voting drop boxes holding assault rifles, obviously intimidating anyone who might be going to drop off their votes. Hopefully, an appeal will be forthcoming.

AIPAC has ousted another critic after progressive Rep. Cori Bush, the first Black woman to be elected to Congress from Missouri, was unable to weather a stunning $8.5 million in outside money poured into the race by AIPAC and the Republican billionaires who fund it. Bush angered the pro-Israel lobby by correctly describing the IDF's brutal military campaign in Gaza, which has killed approximately 40,000 people, "collective punishment against Palestinians" and a war crime.

The police chief of Monongah, West Virginia, has been fired after a shocking viral video showed him pulling his gun on a woman, swearing at her and bystanders, smashing her vehicle’s driver-side window, and tackling her to the ground — all over an expired vehicle registration sticker. The woman wouldn't get out of her car, understandably worried because the cop was not wearing his official uniform and he was driving in an unmarked vehicle. Protect and serve, right?

The company formerly known as Twitter filed the ridiculous lawsuit Tuesday in a federal court in Texas against the World Federation of Advertisers and member companies Unilever, Mars, CVS Health, and Orsted. "For two years we tried peace. Now it is war" wrote an overly dramatic and extremely cringy Musk in a tweet, perpetually playing the world's richest victim instead of taking literally any accountability for his truly awful decisions.
