John,
When I first ran for Congress in 2022, I faced an opponent who had the backing of big money and corporate interests. Even though he outraised us, we beat the odds and performed exceptionally well, thanks to the grassroots support of people like you who believe in a more just future for Ohio and our country.
One of the biggest challenges we face in this race — and our democracy as a whole — is the corrupting influence of money in politics. The current system is broken. It allows special interests and wealthy donors to wield outsized influence, drowning out the voices of everyday Americans.
This is not what our democracy was meant to be. It’s a system that benefits those at the top while leaving hardworking families and individuals behind. I’m committed to fighting for campaign finance reform that levels the playing field, regardless of financial backing.
But here’s the reality: until we can change the system, we have to work within it. That means I urgently need your help to build a campaign that can compete against the deep pockets of my opponent.
I know it’s frustrating to hear, but this is what we’re stuck with for now. And while I hate to ask for money, your support is crucial in this fight. If you can, please chip in so we can elect a politician who truly cares about the people, not just the profits.
