John,
This last week or two, there's been a lot of reflection that the national Republican ticket is just weird. From their policy prescriptions to their paranoid worldview, there's just something a little off in the way their party has gone. But here in Virginia, the weirdness has been creeping in for years too, and that's why I need your help to stand up for a more sane Virginia politics.
Trying to get students and parents to turn in teachers via an Orwellian anonymous tip line is just plain weird. Enabling our schools to ban the Diary of Anne Frank from schools is even weirder. Vetoing a bill to stop localities from banning contraceptive access - well, pretty weird behavior.
I've always been proud to stand on simple clear, bipartisan - heck, sometimes downright boring - policies to help Virginians. From banning legacy admissions in our state universities to holding negligent gun owners responsible when their weapons are used by children, I'm all for driving a lot of the weird out of our state's priorities and replacing it with forward progress.
But I can't keep a campaign running without your help - even if it's just a few dollars, you can help show weird the door in Virginia by contributing to an everyday teacher's campaign for the Senate today.
Yours,
