Today, Kamala Harris chose Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, and I’m all in!

I’m proud to support Tim Walz as our next Vice President, and I’m going to do everything I can to send Kamala and Tim to the White House this year.

If you’re not from Minnesota or you didn’t fanatically follow the “veepstakes” news coverage, you may not know a ton about Tim Walz yet – so here are just a few highlights:

Tim served in the Army National Guard for 24 years, and after attending college thanks to the GI Bill, he served his community as a high school teacher and football coach.
- Fun fact: During his time coaching, not only did he lead his team to the state title, he was also the faculty advisor to the school’s first-ever gay-straight alliance club.
He served six terms in the House (in a red district!) championing the needs of working families and rural communities.
- While there, Walz was the Ranking Member of the House Veterans’ Affairs Committee and passed legislation to help stem veteran suicide.
After that, he was resoundingly elected Governor of Minnesota, where he lowered the cost of insulin, signed paid family leave into law, and established universal background checks for gun purchases.
- In 2023, Walz signed the Protect Reproductive Options Act, making Minnesota the first state in the country to codify abortion rights after the Supreme Court overturned Roe.
Tim and his wife Gwen – a fellow teacher – have two kids, Hope and Gus.
- After years of fertility challenges, Tim and Gwen had their daughter, Hope, thanks to reproductive health care like IVF – further cementing his commitment to ensuring all Americans have access to this care.

All that to say…Governor Tim Walz would be an amazing Vice President, and this is such a big moment for our party and our country!
