John,
Today, Vice President Harris has made an admirable choice in selecting Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Together, they represent the values and vision that we desperately need to protect our democratic institutions and uphold the rule of law.
In 2006, I was elected to the U.S. House with a remarkable group of new members, including Tim Walz. Both of us faced close races, and through that shared experience, my respect and friendship with Tim grew.
We served together on the Armed Services Committee, and as the highest-ranking enlisted soldier in the U.S. Congress history, Tim diligently supported our service members. He focused on the veterans affairs and agriculture, advocating for issues vital to rural districts like ours.
Tim's background is remarkable — he grew up in a town of 400, worked as a public school teacher, and dedicated 24 years to the Army National Guard, retiring as a Sergeant Major. He's also a hunter, a family man, and the highest-ranked enlisted person to ever serve in the U.S. House.
As we move closer to November, it is crucial that we unite behind this historic team in order to defeat the Trump-Vance ticket.
John, we can either move forward with leaders committed to progress or fall back into divisiveness and regression.
In this election, the choice is clear: Harris-Walz will fight to lower costs and raise incomes for working Americans, while Trump spent four years passing tax cuts for the wealthy and attempting to strip health care from millions. The people of eastern Connecticut deserve leaders who are fighting to improve their lives and protect their rights, not take them away.
I am committed to defending the rights, freedoms, and safety of every individual. If you believe in our cause and want to see real change, please consider chipping in $10 to my campaign today.
Onward,
Joe Courtney
