John,
We cannot stay silent in the face of blatant racism from political leaders.
Today is a big deal for the Harris campaign, as Kamala has announced Tim Walz as her running mate. Very exciting news. But… there’s so much more to this race than Kamala’s vision for the future. We also need to fight back against attacks and expose the hate and bigotry of Donald Trump and J.D. Vance.
At the National Association of Black Journalists convention, Trump questioned Vice President Harris's racial identity, saying: "I didn't know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now, she wants to be known as Black. So, I don't know, is she Indian or is she Black?"
This isn't an isolated incident. Other Republican lawmakers have referred to VP Harris as a "DEI hire" implying her selection was based solely on diversity considerations rather than her qualifications and experience.
These statements are unacceptable. They perpetuate harmful stereotypes and attempt to delegitimize the achievements of our nation's first woman, first Black person, and first person of South Asian descent to serve as Vice President.
We're calling on all Americans who believe in equality and respect to stand up and speak out. Join us in denouncing these racist comments, holding GOP leaders accountable, and committing to a political discourse free from bigotry and discrimination.
Vice President Harris has served as District Attorney of San Francisco, Attorney General of California, and U.S. Senator. Her record speaks for itself. To suggest her position is due to anything other than her own hard work and abilities is both false and racist.
Former President Trump's recent comments about Vice President Kamala Harris are not just offensive – they're a dangerous continuation of racist rhetoric in our political discourse.
We've seen this playbook before. Trump was a key figure in promoting the racist "birther" conspiracy against President Obama. Now, he and others are using similar tactics against VP Harris.
We must demand better from our leaders and work towards a political landscape that truly respects and represents all Americans.
Your voice matters in this fight. Stand with us against racism and for a more inclusive political discourse. Sign our petition now to denounce racist attacks on Vice President Harris.
Together, we can send a clear message that racism has no place in our politics.
