John, EMILYs List was founded on the principle that electing women from the bottom of the ballot to the top changes every aspect of American politics for the better.
And this year, we have the opportunity to elect an EMILYs List woman at the very top.
Our choice to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States was an easy one — we've stood with her for the last 20 years as she served at the local, state and national level.
EMILYs List first endorsed Vice President Harris when she ran for San Francisco district attorney in 2003, and we've been with her every step of the way since — from California attorney general, to U.S. senator, to vice president, and now to president.
We helped Kamala Harris defy the odds in her attorney general race when she defeated Steve Cooley, a popular Republican Los Angeles County prosecutor, by a narrow margin. And six years later, with our support, she made history when she became only the second Black woman to serve in the Senate.
Now, she has a chance to make history again.
This election will be fought and won on the issue of reproductive freedom, and we're proud to stand with Kamala Harris because she's been a tireless pro-choice champion her entire career.
We've seen her fight for reproductive freedom up close, and we know that she is well-positioned to reach, motivate, and turn out the voters needed to win this election.
