Hi John,

This public health crisis has revealed the problems with the American healthcare system. While we have public health heroes going into battle every day, we’ve watched our healthcare infrastructure fail them and their patients at a time when we are most reliant on it.

I’ve spoken with medical professionals working in hospitals here on Long Island and heard the concerns of constituents, neighbors, and friends regarding access to care and treatment. It’s clear to me that we must do better.

We need leaders who are willing to find solutions that will strengthen our public health systems, but Trump’s good friend Lee Zeldin has shown he is uninterested in fixing the problems that the crisis has laid bare.

That’s why I’m running for Congress against him in NY-01, and when we flip this seat in November, here’s the platform I’ll fight for:
  • I will fight to make sure every American has access to high-quality, affordable healthcare because I believe it is unconscionable that a country as wealthy as ours has 29 million people without healthcare coverage, and another 30-70 million who are under-insured.
  • We need to lower the minimum age for Medicare and allow younger people and their employers to buy into Medicare.
  • I will fight to make sure that doctors and nurses always have access to the medical supplies they need.
  • We must restore what Trump cut from the Centers for Disease Control and federal efforts to detect and prevent public health catastrophes.
  • I will fight to lower prices for prescription drugs by standing up to the big drug companies who are price gouging working families and seniors.
  • We must protect access to care for people with pre-existing conditions, including diabetes, asthma, and cancer.
The Republican approach to healthcare has been to make cuts and attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act without proposing any alternative. Zeldin has repeatedly supported these wreckless efforts to repeal the ACA and take coverage away from 23 million hard-working Americans -- including 71,000 Americans here in the 1st Congressional District.

This is a critical fight, and it’s one I take very seriously.

My team and I have been communicating with voters about my platform and why having a Ph.D. scientist as a representative will benefit them and the whole district. Thanks to your support, our transition into a digital-only campaign has been successful, but we know there are many challenges still ahead of us.

Zeldin has special interest and Trump-ally donors in his corner -- and he’s already raised $3 million to keep NY-01 under GOP control despite the fact that he’s way out of step with the needs of our community.

In November, we can defeat Lee Zeldin and put a scientist in Congress who will fight to strengthen our public health infrastructure, but I cannot do this without you. We’re making our ad buys in just a few weeks, so today, I am asking you personally to help us power our television strategy.

Will you contribute $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can right now to help us raise what we need today? If we can hit $2,500 before the end of day, we’ll be in a strong position. I am counting on you and your support! Please pitch in here: https://secure.actblue.com/donate/nancygoroffcongress

Thank you for all that you do and for believing in this fight to ensure every American has access to the healthcare they need.

With gratitude,
Nancy
