Texas Crime Stoppers Student Ambassador Leadership Retreat
Collage

The Texas Crime Stoppers Student Ambassador Program within the Public Safety Office at the Office of the Governor is a leadership initiative for Texas youth actively involved in their local Crime Stoppers communities across the state.

The Ambassador Program comprises 12 high school students who are carefully selected and tasked with setting high standards of leadership excellence among their peers. These students act as role models on their campuses and in their communities and are required to complete a series of projects over the course of a calendar year. Participants in the Ambassador Program will develop and strengthen transferable skills, gain leadership experience, and push their boundaries to achieve personal growth throughout their ambassadorship. Ambassadors are chosen to represent their peers statewide and serve as the youth voice for Crime Stoppers in Texas.

Every July, we facilitate the Texas Crime Stoppers Ambassador Leadership Retreat, where we visit campus Crime Stoppers programs throughout the state. We aim to expose students to various aspects of law enforcement, crime prevention, and the judicial system. This summer, the Texas Crime Stoppers Ambassador Leadership Retreat was held in Austin, Texas.

This year, the Student Ambassadors had the opportunity to tour the Texas State Capitol and Capitol Dome, meet with the Supreme Court of Texas, and engage with the Austin Police Department. Their APD experience included interactions with the K9 unit, SWAT, and mounted patrol, a Q&A session with detectives, a tour of the Real Time Crime Center, and a meet-and-greet with APD executive staff.
