It’s official: earlier today, Vice President Kamala Harris selected MN Gov. Tim Walz as her running mate, creating the most pro-choice presidential ticket in history.

Gov. Walz codified abortion rights in Minnesota and took immediate measures to protect abortion patients traveling from out-of-state after Roe was overturned.

He stands up for IVF, sharing: “My oldest daughter’s name is Hope. That’s because my wife and I spent seven years trying to get pregnant, needed fertility treatments, things like IVF – things (MAGA Republicans) would ban…These guys are the anti-freedoms.”
- He champions a family-first agenda, expanding paid family and medical leave, providing free school breakfasts and lunches, and mandating background checks for gun purchases.
- As a rural high school social studies teacher and football coach in the 90s, he was the faculty advisor for the school’s first gay-straight alliance. As Governor, he banned conversion therapy and protected gender-affirming care.
When we say that our heroes lie within our own communities, this is what we mean. They’re teachers, nurses, neighbors, and friends. And when they run for office, Vote Pro-Choice is proud to meet them at the starting line.
The story of the 2024 election was always going to be about how pro-choice voters show up, and this announcement makes that more clear than ever.
We’re working to register voters, to create comprehensive ballot resources, and to turnout pro-choice voters in battleground districts in key swing states.
