This is Vikram Mansharamani, Republican candidate for Congress in NH’s Second District. I am writing to tell you about why I am running for Congress.

But first, let me tell you a little about myself.

The son of immigrants.


I am the son of working-class immigrants. My parents fled persecution and poverty and came to this country in search of the American Dream. My dad was an auto mechanic and my first job was pumping gas at his station.


I understand the tough times families are going through now because I’ve gone through them myself. During the recession in the early 1990’s, my dad lost his station and we lost our family home.

A businessman, not a politician.


As a result, I focused on the only thing I had control over: school. I threw myself into my studies and earned scholarships to Yale and then MIT. I also took out student loans; loans I paid back.


I then started a 30 year career in business that took me to nearly 80 countries around the world. I have started businesses and I have advised Fortune 500 companies. I think Congress needs more people who have signed the front of a paycheck, not just the back.

Driving tractor trailers and representing truckers


Whatever business I was involved in, I always tried to learn it from the bottom up. When I was on the board of a trucking company, I spent countless hours on the road with truckers, learning about the job they did. I even earned my CDL and got licensed to drive tractor trailers.


I did this so that I could better represent them in the boardroom and make sure their concerns were heard. This is what I will do if elected, listen to voters and make sure their voices are heard by the powerful.

Let’s fix this mess.


Let’s face it: Washington DC is dysfunctional. We need common sense problem solvers who will finally address the problems facing our country.

Secure the border. Our insecure borders are a national security disaster. We need to stop the flow of people and drugs into our country. If illegal immigrants can get across the border, so can terrorists.

Get prices down. The politicians printed, borrowed, and spent too much money, and the result was runaway inflation. We need to get prices down by cutting spending, cutting taxes on essential goods, and stopping the bailouts.

Peace through strength. When America is strong, our enemies take notice. And when we are weak, they take advantage. I believe a strong America prevents conflicts and keeps us safe.

There are enough politicians in DC. Let’s send a businessman.
