Delivering for Sacramento County
→ Ami was recently joined by several other local leaders to celebrate a $25 million federal grant for the SouthEast Connector Project. This project will reduce traffic accidents and improve safety along this corridor that connects Elk Grove to El Dorado County.
→ Ami also helped to secure $76.8 million for SacRT! This will allow Sacramento’s public transportation system to replace aging buses with state-of-the-art hydrogen fuel cell buses, along with a zero-emission maintenance facility. This project will create jobs, improve local air quality, and help SacRT achieve its goal of converting its fleet to entirely zero emission vehicles by 2028.
Continuing to Address the Cost of Health Care
→ Joining colleagues from both sides of the aisle, Ami reintroduced the Improving Seniors’ Timely Access to Care Act. This bipartisan legislation will streamline the prior authorization process under Medicare Advantage, allowing seniors to get the care they need and helping health care providers put patients over paperwork.
Working Towards Stability in Asia
→ Earlier this summer, Ami was part of a bipartisan Congressional delegation to India where he met with His Holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, in Dharamshala, India. Following the meeting and a felicitation ceremony hosted by the Central Tibetan Administration, Ami issued the following statement, “It was a great honor to meet with His Holiness during my bipartisan Congressional delegation to India. I was inspired by the Dalai Lama’s message of compassion, forgiveness, and the importance of embracing our shared humanity. I am proud to stand with my colleagues in our unwavering support of the Tibetan people in their pursuit of freedom and self-determination.”
