John,
Last week I wrote to you about the spread of false information through AI chatbots - which has reached a new level of urgency.
Recently, Grok, the AI chatbot associated with X, falsely suggested that Vice President Kamala Harris was not eligible to appear on the 2024 presidential ballot. This misinformation has been seen by millions and poses a significant threat to our democratic process.
In response, I led an effort among other Secretaries of State to send an open letter to X owner Elon Musk, urging him to immediately implement changes to Grok to ensure voters receive accurate information about election rules. Voters deserve the truth, which means social media companies have to correct their mistakes when they learn about them.
As your Secretary of State, I’m working to confront the sources of false information wherever they may be.
With the Minnesota primary in just a few days, we need your help to amplify our message and fight back against misinformation. We need to raise another $5,000 this week. Can you chip in $10 or more to support our efforts?

We are united by the goal of ensuring that voters get accurate information — and that they seek out trusted sources for such information.
It’s important that social media companies, especially those with global reach, correct mistakes of their own making — as in the case of the Grok AI chatbot simply getting the rules wrong.
Speaking out now will hopefully reduce the risk that any social media company will decline or delay correction of its own mistakes between now and the November election.
It’s critical that we have the resources to keep speaking out and correcting the record. John, please chip in any amount today →
Thank you for standing with us,
Steve
