Welcome Back to a New School Year with BRI! |
|
|
|
The Bill of Rights Institute is excited to start a new school year with you! Over the summer, we made several website updates to make our resources more available to educators.
Here's a quick video providing step-by-step instructions on creating a BRI educator account, a resource playlist, and using playlists to populate assignments and courses, making it easier to share relevant content with students.
Or view our comprehensive how-to-guide. |
| |
|
|
After watching the video, optimize your BRI educator account preferences with your school, state, grade level(s), and courses you teach. Using updated preferences: can help BRI pinpoint more specific resources for you.
Through the BRI educator account, curate unique URLs and QR codes to share assignments with added self-check questions for students. Plus, integrate links from other sources into your course lists! |

Think the Vote
Drive students to engage in civil discourse with Think the Vote, the Bill of Rights Institute's student debate platform. Think the Vote allows students to actively participate in the voting experience by engaging with their peers and discussing their thoughts and opinions on current events to promote genuine civil discourse.
The BRI team reviews each student submission and selects winners with the best arguments. Some votes are subject to prizes, including the chance to receive a $1,000 scholarship.
The first debate will open Thursday, Aug. 29. |
| Government and Politics: Civics for the American Experiment
How does a system of self-governance support American ideals? BRI's upcoming government resource will answer this fundamental question.
Explore the foundations and operation of representative government through constitutional principles and examine how a vibrant civil society and the practice of civic virtues serve to promote our common endeavor. This resource will contain scholar-written essays, videos, game-based learning, and more.
The first lessons will be available by Nov. 1, 2024. |

BOE: Bottom of Email
Dear :
The new school year is upon us! We hope you enjoyed a restful summer break and you’re ready to return to the classroom to teach a new group of young minds.
Everyone at the Bill of Rights Institute knows the challenges you encounter when teaching civics. This upcoming school year is no exception, with a presidential election on the horizon and increased discussion around the use of artificial intelligence in education. But don’t worry – BRI is here for you! |
| |
|
|
We continue to offer our array of resources and materials to you at no charge. In addition to hundreds of lessons and classroom-ready activities, we also maintain a Current Events page
. Our team searches for recent news articles that explore relevant themes and connect those articles to our resources. And don’t forget about our Think The Vote platform – we hope it helps your student think critically about the world around them!
BRI wishes you and your students a happy, healthy, and safe 2024-25 school year! |
Warmly,
Laura Vlk
