 DONATE

NRDC Activist, they actually did it.

In a devastating blow to wildlife, the Trump administration just moved to dramatically weaken the Endangered Species Act — throwing imperiled species into danger.

Trump's move is unprecedented — no administration has ever attacked wildlife this aggressively.

We must move quickly to mount the most powerful counteroffensive we can. That's why NRDC plans to go to court to block this outrageous attack on endangered species. The courts are our best — and last — chance to stop these harmful rollbacks.

Please — rush an EMERGENCY GIFT to help fund our legal battles as we fight back against these harmful rollbacks and protect endangered species.

As the Legal Director of NRDC's Nature Program, I can attest that the Endangered Species Act is our nation's most important law for protecting biodiversity. For over 46 years, it has been responsible for saving 99% of the species it protects from extinction.

I have never witnessed such an aggressive effort to weaken this vital law.

There's no way to sugarcoat this: These new rollbacks would be devastating for so many vulnerable and iconic creatures that don't have a voice to fight back. Polar and grizzly bears ... manatees ... gray wolves ... orca whales ... bearded seals ... snowy owls ... rusty patched bumble bees ... and over 1,600 other at-risk species.

The time to act is now: with 1 million species facing extinction, the Endangered Species Act is more important than ever. We need to head to court to protect endangered species — rush an emergency gift now and we'll put it straight to work protecting wildlife and our environment in the most effective way possible.

Here are just a few of the administration's dangerous proposed rollbacks:

  • Reduce protections given to threatened species, delaying lifesaving action until a species' population is so small it may be impossible to save
  • Allow more federal actions to move forward without fully considering all impacts on endangered species
  • Make it more difficult to protect species like polar bears that are threatened by sea ice loss and other climate-change impacts

Extinction is forever. If we lose these beloved animals, we can never get them back. Help us fight — in and out of the courtroom — to protect threatened and endangered species before it's too late. Rush an emergency gift to power our work for wildlife now.

On behalf of my team at NRDC and the wildlife we work every day to protect, thank you for everything you do. It makes a true difference.

Sincerely,

Rebecca Riley
