Workers' compensation trends continue stability, long-term downward trajectories
Workers' compensation claim rates and benefits paid in Minnesota continue to be stable or follow their long-term downward trajectories, even with major system impact due to COVID-19 since 2020, a new Department of Labor and Industry (DLI) report shows.
The 2024 Minnesota Workers’ Compensation System Report presents trend data from 2002 to the present regarding several aspects of Minnesota’s workers' compensation system. For the past three years, the report has tracked two sets of trends for the workers' compensation system: one for the whole system, including COVID-19 claims; and another for the system excluding COVID-19 claims, which shows a pattern more similar to prior years.

2024 Workers' Compensation Summit planning underway
DLI's Workers' Compensation Division will host its eighth Workers' Compensation Summit [ [link removed] ] on Tuesday, Oct. 29. Clean Economy Occupations grant available
The Clean Economy Occupations grant [ [link removed] ] supports the 2022 Minnesota Climate Action Framework that sets a vision for how Minnesota will address and prepare for climate change. This grant supports registered apprenticeship programs to upgrade their capacity to train apprentices and upskill incumbent workers in clean economy occupations.

MNOSHA fatality, serious-injury investigation summaries online
Each month, Minnesota OSHA (MNOSHA) Compliance publishes current, updated summaries of its fatality investigations and serious-injury investigations.
For the federal-fiscal-year that began Oct. 1, 2023, MNOSHA has investigated 17 fatalities through July 30.
The information provided about each investigation is: the inspection number, date of incident and worksite city; the type of business and number of employees; a description of the event; and the outcome of the MNOSHA Compliance investigation.
